Giving Your Kitten the Best

Kittens have higher nutritional demands than adult cats. They require more protein than any other species, and have a specific need for certain amino acids, like taurine. Follow the guidelines below to make sure your kitten gets all the nutrients he or she needs:

Keep portions small.

Kittens have smaller stomachs than adult cats. It's unlikely your kitten will overeat, so you can leave her food out all day. Cats like wet food, so you may want to offer your kitten a small amount three or four times a day.

Choose high-quality food.

Make sure the food is maximally compacted with a good balance of fat, carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals. Make sure it includes amino acids like taurine, important to your kitten's health.

Make sure she has water.

Keep fresh water available at all times.

Avoid milk.

Milk can cause diarrhea in cats. Your kitten will get all the calcium she needs from well-balanced kitten food.
